The first day of the Fashion Alive Madrid event consisted of round tables, in which project partners, runway participants and the creative direction for the event will discuss the developments of the Fashion Alive project, Zero Waste methods and the future of sustainable fashion.

19.00 hs - zero waste fashion masterclass

Gisela Fortuna, lead investigator for Creamodite, delivered a 30-minute interactive presentation of the Zero Waste Fashion Method. 

The focus was to engage the audience on the possibilities the method offers in terms of sparing waste-production during the manufacturing process.

19:30 HS - SUSTAINABLE FASHION TRENDS

Relevant Spanish personalities from leading sustainable fashion companies and brands shared their perspective on the implementation, advances, and challenges in sustainable fashion in Spain.

  • Juan Carlos Mesa, founder of cult Spanish Fashion Brand Maison Mesa and creative director for Fashion Alive Madrid
  • Sandra García Rodríguez, business development director for Pyratex, a Spanish textile company that pioneers in sustainable fabric production.
  • Charo Izquierdo, renown Fashion, sustainability, and lifestyle consultant.

20:00 hs - fashion alive project

  • Martina Gesell, project manager and member of Creamodite presented a brief overview of the project and moderate the debate.
  • Roberto Liberti, lead investigator of Ucampania, delivered a presentation on their research and achievements on Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Fashion
  • Ana Cristina Broega, lead investigator of Uminho, explained Uminho’s research and developments on Upcycling and Circular Fashion
